VAR checked Dani Ceballos stamp on Yerry Mina in Everton win over Arsenal

VAR did not deem the challenge of Dani Ceballos on Yerry Mina worthy of intervention as Everton beat Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Ceballos appeared to stamp on the calf of Mina five minutes before half-time and moments before the Colombian defender scored what would prove to be the winner in a 2-1 victory.

Take our 30-second Everton transfer survey and let us know what Carlo Ancelotti needs to do in the January window.

The ECHO understands the incident was checked by VAR referee Michael Oliver and his assistant James Mainwaring but was not viewed as a clear and obvious error by on-field official Andre Marriner.

Ceballos is also understood to have escaped punishment as the stamp was not deemed to include the 'intensity' and 'force' which would warrant a red card.

The Spaniard fell to the ground after the incident as Mina brushed him away, before both players continued with the game.

The ECHO has been informed the calm reaction of the pair helped Oliver rule in favour of continuing without retrospective action for Ceballos.
