Vans torched just yards from homes on Scots street as shock footage shows vehicles up in flames

Two vans were torched just hards from houses on a Glasgow street with shocking video footage of the blaze emerging.

Emergency crews rushed to the burning vehicles in Longay Street in the Milton area of the city, shortly after 8.30pm on Sunday.

Police say there were no injuries but that they are treating the fires as deliberate.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of two vans on fire on Longay Street, Glasgow, around 8.35pm on Sunday, 9 January 2022.

“There were no reports of any injuries and the fire is currently being treated as wilful.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 2828 of 9 January, 2022.”

A 23-second video clip taken in the street, shared with the Daily Record, shows the flaming vehicles and police officers also at the scene.

In the video, banging noises can be heard along with the noise of smashing glass.

One of the burned vehicles remained parked on the street on Monday morning, with charred rubble strewn across the road.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said one appliance responded to a report of two vans alight in the street around 8.35pm on Sunday.

Firefighters tackled the flames and a stop message for the incident was received at around 9.50pm.
