Concept car from Aston Martin points to new mid-engined rival for Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren 720S.

Isn’t Vanquish a front-engined coupe?
During the era of the DB9 front-engined coupe, Aston Martin made a go-faster version called Vanquish.
But the Vanquish disappeared when the British sports carmaker decided to call today’s DB11 spin-off the DBS Superleggera.
And now, the Vanquish name is back again, this time for a new mid-engined sports car rivaling the just-revealed Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren 720S in the 25 million baht sector of supercars.
Starring at the Geneva motor show, the so-called Vanquish Vision Concept previews an exterior design with the brand’s playful ‘floating’ roof profile.

Is there an engine in it?
Aston only says that a brand-new V6 will be powering the Vanquish. The petrol engine is mostly likely to feature twin turbos and some kind of electrification.
No performance targets were revealed yet. The F8 Tributo and 720S produce an identical 720hp and can go from 0-100kph in 2.9sec.
Latest engines currently available in road-going Aston Martins include 5.2-litre V12 and AMG-sourced 4.0-litre V8, both with two turbos but no hybrids yet.

Is the V6 due to legislation?
That’s probably the case because Aston has confirmed that the Vanquish will go into production in 2022. By that time, CO2 emission requirements will become more stringent than ever.
Over the years, Ferrari has been quite open about its sports cars needing to embrace hybrid technology in the future.
As well, Ferrari currently is responsible for the development of the F160 3.0-litre V6 engine used by Alfa Romeo and Maserati.
