Vanessa Hudgens falls for Edinburgh puppy during break in filming for Netflix sequel

Actress Vanessa Hudgens has been handing out some puppy love in Edinburgh during a break from filming.

The former Disney star has been in the capital filming a follow-up to the 2018 Christmas rom-com The Princess Switch.

While on set in Parliament Square on Sunday afternoon, the 31-year-old seemed ready to swap roles again - this time as the proud owner of Jasper the dog.

The cute King Charles Cavalier stole the scene as the actress appeared to fall in love with the dog during a brief encounter captured by owner Linda Lee Thomson.

Hudgen can be seen giving the one-and-a-half year old pup a big hug as his thrilled owner said: “He's never been in a movie before.”

The actress plays fictional princess Duchess Margaret Delacourt and a baker named Stacey De Novo who switch places in sequel The Princess Switch: Switched Again.

Mimi's Bakehouse, on The Shore in Leith, was redecorated as "Sweets and Treats" as it was transformed into the shop owned by Hudgens' character.

High School Musical star Hudgens has been spotted around Edinburgh during the production of the new film, including at Edinburgh Dungeons and the Torchlight Procession.
