Vanessa Feltz 'reluctant' to marry fiancé of 16 years after divorce left her shaken

Vanessa Feltz is hesitant to tie the knot for a second time, after her divorce left her "shaken to the core".

The This Morning star has been in a loving relationship with Ben Ofoedu for the last 16 years, with Phats & Small singer popping the question back in 2006 - a year after first meeting each other.

Despite being blissfully happy, Vanessa, 59, has admitted her divorce from her doctor ex-husband Michael Kurer 21 years ago made her "wary of getting married again."

Speaking to OK! magazine, the TV presenter explained that while she would "never say never" to tying the knot again, she hasn't made any plans for a wedding to fiancé Ben, 49.

Vanessa's split from the father of her children derailed her "to the most terrific extent" and has made her "reluctant" to embark on a second marriage.

The BBC Radio 2 host married Michael Kurer in 1985 and the former couple welcomed daughters Allegra and Saskia into the world before their divorce in 2000.

The split occurred when former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Vanessa discovered the doctor was cheating on her via newspaper reports.

"I was so shocked and broken-hearted and rocked to my absolute core," the mum-of-two admits in her latest interview.

It makes you wary of getting married again. The marriage seemed to be so disposable - it could just be chucked down the toilet in 10 seconds flat, even though I didn’t want it to be and I didn’t realise there was any trouble with it or problems."

"So it made me feel a bit damaged and reluctant to ever do it again."

Fiancé Ben seems to share similar views to his partner of 16 years, telling the publication: "If it ain’t broke don’t fix it."

The musician- whose hits include Turn Around (Hey What's Wrong With You) - added that "there’s a beauty to being engaged" when chatting about his relationship.

Last year, Vanessa opened up about her sex life with the singer - revealing saucy knickers and sexy texts help keep the spark alive.

Speaking to The Sun about how she had been keeping entertained during lockdown, the presenter confessed she and Ben were making the most of an empty house and free time.

"We don't have to ask for anyone's permission if we want to do whatever we want, in any room that we feel like doing it in, in any position we want to do it in, at any time of the day. And that is quite a nice feeling," she revealed to the publication.

Vanessa - who is ten years old than Ben - added that "age is not an issue" in her relationship and both stars make the effort to keep their romance going.
