The Lakers were already going to do everything in their power to win their first round matchup in the playoffs against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers.
But if they needed any more incentive to do so, they’ve got it.
If the Lakers advance through the first round of the postseason, the team will get to wear a special “Black Mamba” edition of the Lakers jersey made in tribute to Kobe Bryant, according to a report from the LA Times.
And, listen, they absolutely need to wear these. Vanessa Bryant gave us a quick peek at the jerseys on her Instagram (which is private) and they look sweet.
This is essentially the same jersey designed by Kobe Bryant in 2017 for the Lakers’ “City edition” look. It features a black background, black lettering and a snakeskin print.
The jersey would also have commemorative patches on them for both Kobe and Gigi Bryant who tragically passed away earlier this year.
Unfortunately for the Blazers, the Lakers fanbase just got a lot bigger for this round of the playoffs.
