Former Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay has revealed that her husband, Brock Davies, cheated on her when they were expecting their daughter.
The 40-year-old reality star, who had her only child with Davies in 2021, made the confession in her new memoir, My Good Side, which comes out July 22. In one excerpt, shared by Glamour, Shay recalled how her husband told her that he’d been unfaithful.
“Brock said that with all of the fake news being published, he was afraid that something that actually was true might surface, and it was best that I heard it directly from him,” she wrote. “My whole body froze, and I remained in a state of paralyzed shock as he confessed that he’d cheated on me two years prior, when we were living in San Diego during the pandemic, while I was pregnant with Summer.”
She confessed that she previously “spent so much time fighting off [her] anxiety” about her relationship, after Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval notably cheated on Ariana Madix with their co-star, Raquel Leviss, in 2023.
“As I sat there, feeling completely sick to my stomach, he admitted that—at the time—he was scared about being a father again, specifically about whether he even deserved to be, and he chose to deal with it by sleeping with someone else,” she wrote about Davies, who she started dating in 2019. “I use the word ‘chose’ because it was very much a conscious decision. No one twisted his arm or dragged him into bed.”
She continued to describe how her world “was officially shattered into pieces” when she learned Davies cheated, and she “wasn’t sure [she] could put” it “back together.” She also wrote that there was a “deep fury bubbling inside” her at the time, which she felt like she couldn’t express around her child.
“If I screamed, I could wake up my daughter. Our daughter. His baby, whom I’d been carrying while he was in bed with another woman,” she wrote. “I stood up and started pacing back and forth, fuming, and feeling like I might throw up.”
However, Shay confessed that she was “unable to contain” her anger, so she slapped her husband and threw a Rubik’s cube toward him, which he avoided.
According to Shay, Davies had an affair with “someone he had known since” before he met her. Davies and the unnamed woman first ran into each other at the gym before they reconnected and “began a brief affair.”
The same night Davies revealed he cheated, he gave Shay a letter “that he’d written a year after the affair ended.” Shay questioned why he told her about the affair at that specific time.
“Apparently, he had compartmentalized his indiscretion (convenient, I know), but while we were out at a local festival in San Diego one night, he ran into some old friends who reminded him of that time in his life, and everything that he’d done came rushing back,” she wrote. “He said he realized he was throwing his second chance at a family away by stepping out and swore to himself that he would never betray me again.”
Shay also noted that the letter “included more specifics” than she wanted to hear, including how “many times” he’d slept with this woman and where. He also told her the relationship “was purely physical, never emotional, and he always used protection.”
The note reminded Shay of a difficult point in her marriage, specifically the weeks leading up to her second trimester of her pregnancy with Summer.
“Like many pregnant women, I was sexually stimulated. I’ll never forget how, during that time, Brock was ‘afraid’ to have sex with me (or he simply didn’t want to),” she wrote. “That did a number on my anxiety, and it killed my confidence in a way I can’t even describe. His behavior now made so much more sense.”
“Once I’d read it, that was more than enough. I told him to immediately toss it into the fire. I never wanted to set eyes on those words again,” she added.
Shay and Davies got engaged in 2021, months after welcoming their daughter. They officially tied the knot in August 2022.
She previously said that she’d asked her husband about cheating following Sandoval’s affair with Leviss. “I absolutely did question him because after all the Tom and Raquel stuff, which I didn't think was true, I obviously had to ask,” she said during a 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, after rumors surfaced that Davies hooked up with Leviss.
“He said, 'Absolutely not,' but, follow-up question, 'Did she ever try?' As much as I trust my husband, I don't trust [Raquel],” she added. “He said no. He said he never put that energy off.”
