Vandals wreck primary school grounds including memorial garden to a former pupil

Vandals have caused a 'large amount of damage' to the grounds of a primary school - including a memorial garden to a former pupil.

Toys, play areas and a forest school were also wrecked in the incident at Tithe Barn Primary in Stockport.

Police say they are 'deeply saddened' by the attack and added the memorial garden had been paid for by fundraising and 'held a lot of sentimental value'.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses.

The damage is thought to have occurred some time between 4pm on Friday, July 3, and 6.30am on Tuesday, July 7.

A post on the GMP Heatons and Reddish Facebook page said: "We were deeply saddened today to discover that over the weekend, someone has jumped the wall into the grounds of Tithe Barn Primary school and caused a large amount of damage.

"Damage has been caused not only to the toys, play areas and forest school but also to a memorial garden created for a student. This garden had been paid for by fundraising by the school and pupils and held a lot of sentimental value.

"If you saw or heard anything, please do not hesitate to report this to us."
