Vandals trash 'beautiful' beer garden setting fires and destroying furniture ahead of reopening

A 'beautiful' beer garden popular with Glaswegians located on the outskirts of the city has been trashed by mindless vandals a few weeks prior to it reopening..

Shocked staff at The Stables Country Pub, located on the Forth & Clyde Canal in Kirkintilloch, shared news of the incident on their Facebook page this morning alongside photos showing the extent of the damage.

As well as destroying the outdoor furniture, the culprits also lit fires on the grounds and left bags of rubbish and empty glass bottles strewn across the beer garden - which is normally jam-packed with locals and cyclists in the warm weather.

A post by the pub read: "We as a team are very saddened by last night's mindless vandalism on our beautiful beer garden, our furniture has been destroyed and fires have been lit on the grounds.

"We would like to remind anyone visiting that our garden is currently closed to comply with Covid-19 guidelines and our team are not on site to clean up the many bags of rubbish that have been abandoned. We have done our best to go up weekly and clean it but we are asking the public to please take their litter home.

"We have passed on the CCTV of this awful vandalism to the police and we will be monitoring this very closely. If anyone has any information please get in contact. Should the persons involved which to approach us and pay for the damages we will not press charges."
