Vandals told to 'come and do the dishes' after smashing up charity

A Merseyside charity suggested vandals who targeted the site "come and do the dishes" if they can't pay for the damage caused.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, August 15, damage was caused to a glass door at The World of Glass museum on Chalon Way in St Helens .

Yesterday, the popular attraction took to social media to share CCTV still showing two people, one in a white shirt, smashing the glass in on of their doors.

Posting to Facebook, The World of Glass said: "We are a charity, so it's even more upsetting to have to use our precious funds to replace a door that was purposefully smashed.

"It's grainy, but these are the two people involved in the incident. The one in the white shirt smashed the glass in our door.

"Perhaps you recognise them? Sunday Morning 5.30am. If you see this post and you regret what you did and can't pay for the damage, then come and wash dishes for a few days."

The World of Glass provides a fun, yet insightful, experience as you wander through the exhibitions and earning about glass, which has defined St Helens like no other industry.

Pete Frost, director The World of Glass, told the ECHO that it has been a difficult two years for the charity, but that the museum is now fully open and welcoming visitors.

He said: "It has taken considerable time and cost to have the door replaced. We are very lucky that so many people care deeply about The World of Glass. We really are at the heart of the community.
