Vandals target Partick Thistle's ground with political graffiti ahead of Scotland v Israel game

Police have launched an investigation after vandals targeted Partick Thistle's stadium with political graffiti prior to Scotland's UEFA Euro 2020 play-off against Israel at Hampden this evening.

Officers received a report of vandalism at Firhill Stadium in Maryhill just after midnight last night.

The vandals daubed the walls of the stadium near the entrance with red paint alongside a spraypainted message which reading 'Palestinian blood'.

The vandalism is believed to have been carried out at the stadium after Israel trained there ahead of this evening's match.

It follows a similar incident which took place at Hampden Park prior to Scotland's UEFA Nations League fixture against Israel last month.

Police confirm that enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of vandalism at Firhill Stadium, Glasgow, around 12.10am on Thursday, 8 October, 2020.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
