Vandals steal Gruffalo trail statue after ransacking east end community space

Cruel vandals ransacked an east end community space for families on Christmas Eve.

Members of the Mount Vernon Community Hall group have slammed the thugs responsible, after they dug up two figures from a woodland Gruffalo trail, smashed concrete and made off with one of the statues.

In a post uploaded to the hall's Facebook page on Christmas Day, the Kenmuir Avenue organisation issued an appeal for the artwork's return.

And they urged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch with officers at Shettleston Police Station.

They said: "A very Merry Christmas to you all except those who once again stole the figures from our Gruffalo trail.

"You have made many young children very sad this Christmas.

"It looks like who ever did this was well prepared with all the right tools to dig out the concrete around the figures before smashing it up to release the figures...no mean feat.

"If anyone hears/sees anything about our Mr Fox then please get in touch with Shettleston Police Office and pass on the details.

"Unfortunately we cant afford to replace the figures so need to do everything we can to get them back."
