Vandals smashed up buses at a depot in Bolton - if your bus was late this morning this might be why

There's been widespread delays on the buses today after a vandal attack on a bus depot.

Yobs smashed up buses at the Diamond Bus depot on Weston Street near Bolton town centre.

A spokesman said services on most of the 91 routes it runs across Greater Manchester experienced delays as a result of the vandalism.

He added contractors were working 'as quickly as possible' to repair the damaged buses.

The spokesman said the company would not disclose how many buses were damaged but said the attacks took place overnight on both Saturday and Sunday.

In a statement Diamond Bus North West said: "Due to the amount of vandalism that occurred over the weekend Diamond Bus North West are unable to put out a full fleet of vehicles to serve its customers.

"Youths entered the depot premises over the weekend and damaged a number of vehicles, they damaged panels and broke numerous windows, the police were called but the youths left the scene.

"We are working closely with local contractors to get these buses fixed as soon as possible so we can get the buses back into service as soon as possible so we can give the passengers of Greater Manchester a service which they rely one."

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said it's thought eight buses were damaged overnight on Saturday.

Several others are thought to have been targeted on Sunday.
