Vandals smash windscreen of ambulance responding to 999 call in London

A London ambulance has been taken out of service after rocks were thrown at it as staff responded to a 999 call.

The vehicle, belonging to Enfield and Haringey, had its windscreen damaged around Hertford Road in Ponders End on February 6.

An image posted to social media by the London Ambulance Service shows the damage done to the vehicle.

It confirmed that staff were not injured in the incident.

On its Twitter account, London Ambulance Service said: “Reckless and dangerous actions like this mean an ambulance must be taken off the road – and cannot respond to patients in need.”

Last year, four people were charged with criminal damage after they were caught on camera celebrating England’s World Cup match win.

The ambulance was left with a shattered windscreen and major dents to the bonnet.
