Vandals used a breeze block to smash a Porsche sports car to pieces leaving it in a state beyond repair.
The damage is so extensive its owners believe the 2001 Boxter S model will be unlikely to get on the road ever again.
The Porsche, which was parked on private land at the back of Claire Mainwaring's home in Whitland, Carmarthenshire, had been bought as a project for her son Liam and husband Clive to do up over the summer.
"It had been off the road since 2013 so it wasn't even insured," she said. "My husband and son were going to try and get it back up and running as a project."
The damage to the hard top would cost £1,500 alone to repair, she added. The vehicle itself is worth around £3,500.
The couple became wary after reportedly seeing "heads bopping up and down" outside their kitchen window while they were making a cup of tea on Saturday afternoon.
When they went outside to investigate they found the car completely "obliterated".
Mrs Mainwaring said: "They've obliterated it. I can't afford to get her back on the road now.
"I just feel absolutely violated that someone has done this for no apparent reason apart from fun."
The couple reported the incident to Dyfed-Powys Police, who are investigating the vandalism. The force was asked to comment.
