Plants placed by volunteers in Midlothian have been repeatedly torn out of the soil by vandals.
Heather was ripped out of a planter on Friday evening in Dalkeith town centre. When local volunteers found the plants and replaced them, they were torn out again the following day.
The Dalkeith Guerrilla Gardeners are a community group which have been tidying up the town since they were formed last year.
The heather was part of a campaign to make the town more attractive for visitors and residents.
Founder Denise McKenzie shared a picture of the damaged plants on their Facebook page, saying: "Unfortunately someone uprooted heather plants on Friday night (between 6pm and midnight). The plants were removed from the planters in Jarnac Court, Dalkeith town centre.
"The plants were found and re-planted- only to be pulled out again by vandals. Please be vigilant and keep an eye out.
"It's a real shame to see volunteers' hard work diminished and plants destroyed but we will plant on."
