Vandals caught on CCTV causing over £2,000 worth of damage to plush Range Rover parked in Scots drive

Callous vandals have been caught on camera causing over £2,000 worth of damage to a plush Range Rover Discovery Sport.

Three people were captured on CCTV footage after mindlessly keying and denting the expensive vehicle before fleeing the scene in the Penilee area of Glasgow.

The woman who was targeted has been left devastated after only getting the Range Rover just three weeks before the 'random' attack.

Speaking to the Record, the 43-year-old asked to remain anonymous as she feared the vandals may strike again.

She said: "I had no choice but to post it online as there is nothing being done about it.

"We only had the car for about three weeks before it. I'm so stressed - I've got kids in the house and they are scared and frightened.

"You cant sleep at night because you're thinking about what you're going to face the next morning."

The vandals struck just before 10pm on Sunday, August 21 and the damage was later spotted by the woman's son when he let the dog out just after midnight.

The body of the car has been covered in dents and scratches - causing a total of £2,101 worth of damage.

In the footage three people, believed to be men, can be seen walking up to the vehicle which is parked in a drive at the home.

One then scratches the car on the left side as the other two do the same to the right side of the car.

The trio then flee the scene as all appear to be wearing tracksuits.

It is thought to be a random attack and the woman said there is no known reason anyone would want to vandalise the vehicle.

"I was devastated," she added. "My kids are frightened as well and it has caused me so much anxiety.

"I can only presume that it is because it is a new car and people don't like others having nice things.

"It is really distressing and as I have young children it has had an impact on the full family as well."

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of vandalism to a car that happened around 9.40pm on Saturday, 21 August, 2021.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious in the area should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0239 of 22 August."
