Vandal 'corrects' Formby road sign after council blunder

A frustrated Formby resident has taken a marker pen to a new street sign after spotting an error by the council.

The vandal has “corrected” the brand new College Avenue sign, crossing out the numbers and leaving a message for visitors.

They wrote: “The marker pen numbers are correct! (Unfortunately the local council can’t even get this right!!)”

The problem was that the sign pointed visitors the wrong way for some of the homes on College Avenue, with an arrow suggesting numbers five and six were in the opposite direction to their actual location.

The vandal has crossed out the numbers on the sign and replaced them with the accurate ones.

At least one neighbour agreed with the mysterious vandal, saying: “We needed a new sign. The old one was wrong and had graffiti all over it.

“Now we finally have a new one, and that's wrong. And that's got graffiti on it, albeit more helpful than the last lot. Massive fail by Sefton Council here.”

A council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incorrect signage on College Avenue, Formby and our localities team will be in touch with the resident to correct the error.”
