Van-tastic Balbriggan beach recovery sees no injuries after van gets stuck in Irish Sea

It's not every day that you see a van stuck out at sea but bemused onlookers at Balbriggan beach got quite the surprise yesterday.

Thankfully the van was equipped with a dinghy after getting stuck in the sand as the tide came in at the popular north Dublin beach.

In a van-tastic recovery Dublin Fire Brigade firefighters were called to the scene and thankfully they reported no injuries.

Although there may have been no injuries, the salt water is sure to play havoc on the van's engine and parts.

According to local reports, the van remained stuck in the sea yesterday evening and awaited a tractor to tow it out of the water.

They said: "Firefighters from Balbriggan and Swords fire stations were called to reports of a vehicle stuck in sand this evening. With the tide on the way in, the water level was too high for recovery. No injuries reported."

Amused social media users added to the discussion. One joked: "Dun dun, dun dun, dun dun dun dun... Why do I hear jaws when I see that photo of the van."

But others took the incident more seriously, saying: "Can so easily happen..hope all ok although salt water won't do van any favours."
