Van stolen in Newmains street by opportunistic crook while keys were in the ignition

Police are appealing for information after a van was stolen from a Newmains street.

The theft took place in Alcath Road on 11.50am on September 19 as a delivery driver was dropping off a parcel.

A Police Scotland spokesman said that the driver had left the keys in the ignition and the opportunistic crook had nicked the vehicle as he was delivering the parcel.

Officers have released a description of the man they would like to question.

He is in his late 20s, heavily built with short, fair hair.

He was wearing dark clothing and a black and white facemask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
