Van smashes into wall - miraculously there are no serious injuries

A van has smashed into fencing and the wall of a building on a major road tonight.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Tweeted at 8.53pm that Rochdale Road, Blackley, was closed at the junction with Charlestown Road due to a collision.

Pictures from the scene show a white Renault van having crashed through fencing into a building on Rochdale Road heading towards the junction with Middleton Old Road and Charlestown Road.

The Manchester Evening News understands that no one was seriously injured in the incident.

The MEN understands no one was seriously injured in the crash (ASP)

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for more information.

Bus services had to be diverted and people were advised to avoid the area while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

A TfGM Tweet said: "Due to a collision Rochdale Road is CLOSED at the junction with Charlestown Road.

"Numerous Stagecoach and Go North West bus services are having to divert. Please check with the operator for more info.

"Avoid the area if possible divert via Blackley village."
