Van torched outside Moodiesburn home in deliberate attack

A VAN was set alight outside a house in Moodiesburn in what police are treating as "wilful fire-raising".

At around 12.30am on Tuesday morning, the Vauxhall Combo vehicle was targeted in Dunellan Avenue.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and police attended the scene and luckily no-one suffered any injuries.

Detective Constable Kim Faulds of Coatbridge police station said: “It is being treated as wilful [fire-raising] and our enquiries are ongoing to establish more information and trace those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Dunellan Avenue early on Tuesday morning, who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has any information that will assist our investigation.

"I would appeal to anyone driving in or around this street at the time, who has dash-cam footage, to contact us.”

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, should contact Coatbridge police on 101, quoting reference number 0113 of September 22.
