Van rams cars as man 'with weapon' chases driver down street in row

Dramatic video footage shows a man 'with a weapon' in a heated row with a van driver in the street.

Mobile phone footage shows a red three door van being driven recklessly on Ford Lane in Litherland late on Friday night.

In the footage the driver of the van appears be in a dispute with a man stood in the street, who then brandishes a weapon.

The young man, wearing shorts, can be seen running up behind the van and striking it with an unknown object.

Merseyside Police said it had received a report that a man involved had some type of weapon.

At one point the van reverses at speed down the road, crashing into two parked vehicles.

A police van then arrives at the scene, however the driver of the red van can be seen reversing down the street at speed, away from police, and performing a three point turn.

The van then makes off from the scene.

The incident happened on Litherland's Ford estate at around 11.30pm on Friday.

A police spokesman said to the ECHO : "We are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage in Litherland on Friday night, 9 July.

"At around 11.30pm, reports came in of criminal damage being caused to vehicles in the Ford Lane area and a verbal argument. It is believed that a van rammed into two other stationary vehicles, a Nissan and a Ford, causing damage.

"A further report suggested that the van was then subject of damage from a man in possession of an unknown weapon, before it was driven off.

"Witness, CCTV and vehicle are ongoing. Nobody was reported as having been injured.
