Van ploughs into Scots garden after 45 minute police chase with driver arrested

A man has been arrested by police after a 45 minute vehicle chase ended when the van ploughed into the garden of a Fife home.

Officers attempted to stop the white Ford Transit vehicle close to Gartarry roundabout, near Clackmannan, at around 10.55am on Wednesday, May 5.

Marked police cars and other specialist resources gave chase as the vehicle fled the scene before following it as it drove through Tayside and Fife.

The pursuit concluded after the van drove into the garden of a property on Craigside Road in Cardenden.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with various road traffic offences.

He is due to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, May 6.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.55am on Wednesday, 5 May, a white Ford Transit van failed to stop when signalled to by police near Gartarry roundabout near Clackmannan.

“Officers pursued the vehicle for forty-five minutes through Tayside and Fife until it came to a stop in the garden of a property on Craigside Road in Cardenden.

“Nobody was injured during the incident.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with various road traffic offences. He is due to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, 6 May, 2021.”
