Van Morrison announces three socially-distanced gigs in Belfast for October

Van Morrison has announced three intimate socially-distanced concerts, set to take place next month in Belfast.

The singer, who turned 75 on August 31, will perform his shows at the Europa Hotel in October.

The concerts will take place on October 29th, 30th and 31st.

The event will be within socially-distance guidelines, with tickets being sold in pairs or by tables of eight, and the maximum number of attendees at each show will be 184. This is in order to adhere to social distancing legislation in Northern Ireland.

There will also be a drinks reception and two-course supper on the night, which organisers say will showcase the best of Northern Ireland produce.

Ticket prices for the first two rows are priced at £250 per person, or £2,000 for a table of eight.

All other tickets are £150 per person or £1,200 per table of eight.

The news comes after the East Belfast singer celebrated his 75th birthday earlier this week.

As part of his birthday celebrations, Irish music magazine Hot Press conducted a series which involved Irish artists covering classic Van Morrison songs.

Among them was Irish President Michael D Higgins, who performed 'Rave On, John Donne'.
