The shocking moment a van driver weaved in and out of cars on a bend has been caught on camera.

Footage shared online shows a white van travelling at a high speed whilst driving on the wrong side of the road to overtake traffic in the Heswall area of Wirral yesterday (Tuesday, November 2).

The footage caught the event which occurred on Barnston Road between Heswall and Thingwall at 12.19pm.

The driver of the car that captured the footage, who asked to remain anonymous, told the ECHO : “I was turning left out of Whitfield Lane and there was plenty of space for me to pull out… if he had of done the speed limit.

“However, because he was doing way over the speed limit, he came right up my back end and was beeping and being abusive.

“Only then he shot around the outside of me, nearly hitting a car on the opposite side of the road causing me to swerve a bit.”

At this point the driver’s passenger took out her phone and began recording the other driver's antics.

The driver, who was travelling with another woman and two children, aged two and four, said the van driver "terrified" the car's passengers.

She added: “It makes you feel angry because our daughter was in the car and it was an accident waiting to happen, so it was quite scary to witness.”

The video, which was posted on a Wirral Facebook group, has attracted a huge response.

Over 120 people voiced their shock in the comments section of the video.

One person said: "Seen this earlier on. It was behind me on Bidston Hill.

"I turned right into Upton Village and he carried on ahead the Upton by pass, took over 2 cars (one a learner).

"He was on the other side of the road and just missed a head on collision with a car driving towards him..

"Then nearly crashed into the poor learner car."
