PRACHIN BURI: The Thai driver was killed and 10 Myanmar migrant workers, one of them a bridegroom, were injured when a van from Udon Thani heading for a wedding in Rayong skidded off a road in Si Mahaphot district early on Sunday, police said.
The van, driven by Adul Sriphuttha, left Udon Thani at 7pm on Saturday with the 10 Myanmar workers on board.
Pol Maj Veerapol Sithiphan, an investigator of Rabophai police, said the accident occurred at about 3.30am on Highway 304 between kilometre markers 134-135 near Moo 4 village in tambon Nong Phrong. The van skidded off the road at a sharp curve and rammed into a large tree.
Adul, the driver, died at the driver's seat. All of the Myanmar workers, including the bridegroom and a two-year-old boy, were injured, some of them seriously. Six of them were admitted to Si Mahaphot Hospital and the others to Chao Phraya Abhaibhubet Hospital and Kabin Buri Hospital.
The wedding party was to be held on Sunday morning in Rayong province where the Myanmar bride and her family members were waiting.
