Van Gogh's Paintings on House Walls for Two Weeks

Five people will be chosen to borrow a perfect, 3D print of a Van Gogh masterpiece in their home for two weeks. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is shut to visitors but it is opening its collection to a few lucky members of the Dutch public.

The museum, which normally hosts 6,000 visitors a day, is offering five people each fortnight the chance to view an artwork from the close proximity of their living room. It has asked people in the Netherlands to nominate a friend, family member, or colleague living in the country who needs a lift, and five will be chosen to borrow a perfect, 3D print of a Van Gogh masterpiece in their home for two weeks, The Daily Telegraph reported. The idea is that every fortnight until the museum reopens, a new five will be selected to borrow one of nine almost Van Gogh Museum Editions.

Van Gogh's artistic journey began late in his life. He died at a young age, but painted around 900 tableaus over 10 years. The mentally disturbed Dutch artist was fond of certain subjects which he painted repeatedly such as sunflowers and cypress trees. He wasn't appreciated during his lifetime, but his works are being sold for millions today.

Over the last two months of his life, Van Gogh created 80 paintings, and no one knows which one was his last work. Among them was the popular Wheat Fields painting, which some suggest it was a suicide message. Van Gogh shot himself on July 27, 1890, in a field, and died two days later from the injury complications. This painting has often been described as Van Gogh's greatest artwork.
