Van goes up in flames in Dublin cemetery car park

A garda investigation has been launched after van went on fire beside a large Dublin cemetery last night.

The blaze happened in the car park of Newlands Cross Cemetery/Ballymount Park at around 9:30pm. Firefighters from Tallaght rushed to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade said on Twitter: "Vans present extra considerations to Firefighters as they can essentially be a shed on wheels housing a multitude of different substances."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardai are investigating an incident of criminal damage in relation to a vehicle found at Newlands Cross, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 at approximately 9.30pm yesterday 6th of October 2022.

"There have been no arrests at this time. Investigations are ongoing."
