Van fire shuts M90 during rush hour after vehicle burst into flames

Part of the M90 is currently closed after a van went on fire during rush hour this morning.

Emergency service raced to the motorway, northbound at Junction 3, Halbeath, around 9am this morning after the van burst into flames following a two vehicle crash.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and take an alternative route if possible.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident.

There are not thought to be any life threatening injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 9.15am on Thursday, 6 May, 2021 following the report of a car on fire on the M90, junction three near Halbeath after a two vehicle road crash.

'Emergency services attended and there were no life threatening injuries.

"The slip road at junction three is currently closed."
