
A Pattaya van driver has returned a lost wallet containing cash worth 20,000 baht to a South Korean passenger, while a superstore employee returned about 500,000 baht in cash and valuables to a woman who left her bag in a shopping cart in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
In Chon Buri province, South Korean tourist Koo Seungwan, 32, sought help from tourist police on Wednesday night, saying he left his wallet in a passenger van operating between Bangkok and Pattaya.
The wallet contained foreign currencies worth about 20,000 baht, credit cards and personal papers he told Pol Lt Gen Terapon Kuptanond, commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau.
The South Korean man said he travelled in the van from Ekkamai bus terminal to Pattaya on Wednesday. On arrival in Jomtien he hurriedly got out of the van, but acidentally left his wallet behind.
Pol Lt Gen Terapon ordered a search for the van driver.
It turned out the driver, Vanit Phukaegduan, 49, had earlier contacted JS 100 radio station asking for help finding a tourist who left a wallet behind. He later drove back to Pattaya to return it.
The tourist police chief praised the van driver for his honesty. (continues below)

In Nakhon Si Thammarat, Sanya Jitjaem, 32, an employee at a Tesco Lotus superstore returned a handbag containing 85,000 baht cash, a diamond-studded ring and other valuables worth about 500,000 baht to businesswoman Somjit Janthong, 61.
Ms Somjit said she went shopping at the superstore around 8pm on Tuesday. She put her handbag in a shopping cart. After completing her purchases she loaded them in her car and drove away.
About 10 kilometres down she road she stopped to buy a meal, but could not find her handbag and realised she left it in the cart.
Ms Somjit drove back to the superstore and received the good news that Mr Sanya had found her bag and took it to the customer assistance counter for help finding the owner.
Ms Somjit praised Mr Sanya for his honesty and gave him a cash reward of 3,000 baht.
