Van driver hospitalised after two-vehicle crash on Scots road

A van driver has been rushed to hospital following a crash with a car near Dunfermline, Fife.

The collision happened in Cairncubie Road, in Bowershall, just a few miles north of the Fife town, around 7am on Wednesday.

Police said the road was still closed at 9.50am as a result of the crash.

A picture shared in the Facebook group Fife Jammer Locations showed a number of emergency service vehicles in attendance this morning.

One local described seeing a “massive” emergency services presence and warned motorists to avoid travelling through Bowershall.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a two-vehicle crash, involving a car and a van, on Cairncubie Road in Bowershall around 7am on Wednesday, 24 November, 2021.

"The male driver of the van has been taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment. The road is currently closed.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said one appliance was still in attendance at about 9am but was unable to provide any further details.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been contacted.
