Van driver 'critical' after horror tractor smash on Highlands road as police appeal for dashcam footage

A van driver is fighting for his life in hospital a horror smash with a tractor on a Highlands road.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A95 near Grantown-on-Spey at around 7.40am on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old driver of the van was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment after suffering life-threatening injuries.

The road, near the Skye of Curr junction, was closed for around eight hours to allow for a full accident investigation.

Officers have now issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage from the area around the time of the accident in a bid to establish the full circumstances.

Police Sergeant, Angus MacLeod of Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: “A man has suffered serious injuries as a result of this crash and enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We are appealing to other road users who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to speak to police.

“I would also ask if anyone has any dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation that they come forward and speak to officers.
