Van driver blames his Sat Nav for driving into fast flowing Yorkshire river

A chief fire officer has shared the moment firefighters were called to the scene where a man had driven his van into a fast flowing river - and then blamed his Sat Nav for ending up there!

North Yorkshire Station Manager Andy Creasey tweeted the images after crews from Ripon, Harrogate, Richmond and Knaresborough were mobilised to rescue two men and a dog from the transit van in Ripon.

The fire service was called at 13.52, and after successfully rescuing the occupants, SM Creasey tweeted:

" #Ripon Blue Watch along with multiple FRS resources from @NorthYorksFire were mobilised along with @NYorksPolice to this.

"I had 1 question only, why did you attempt this. The response was my SatNav said this way.

"Unbelievable Stupidity"
