Police swooped on a Glasgow street after a van smashed into multiple parked cars.

Officers were called to the scene at Hawthorn Street in Springburn at around 5.55am.

The area is still currently sealed off between Memel Street and Fernbank Street following the collision.

The circumstances behind the crash are currently unknown.

The road was then fully reopened around 7.20am.

It comes as the area has been hit with weather alerts for snow and ice until 11am this morning.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) advised: "Following a Road Traffic Incident, Hawthorn Street is closed between Memel Street and Fernbank Street.
