A man has been charged after allegedly crashing a van carrying more than £112 million of methamphetamine into a parked police car in Sydney.
It is alleged 26-year-old Simon Tu hit the patrol car while driving a van carrying more than 270kg worth of the drug ice through the city’s north-west.
The impact crushed the marked sedan into a parked police van beside it. Both cars were sitting outside Eastwood Police Station.
CCTV footage shows the van swerving into the frame before slamming into the bonnet of the police car and speeding off.
The man was caught by police in a nearby suburb an hour later.
No officers were injured in the crash.
A search of the vehicle turned up 273kg of ice, said police, who released footage of the drugs neatly packed in cardboard boxes, taped up and loaded into the back of the van.
The driver was arrested and charged with drug supply and negligent driving and is due in court on Tuesday.
