Value Scope: Steve Jones' tips from ITV meetings at Cheltenham, Newbury and Doncaster

Spin Tails to win the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle as the jumps season cranks up a notch at Cheltenham.

AN TAILLIUR (3.50) landed a staggering seven races last term but he hasn’t stopped winning just yet.

He has an excellent record when returning from a break.

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has his team in top form, so there are plenty of reasons to expect this unexposed stayer from bringing his best form to the home of National Hunt racing. Have 2pts win at 9-1.

There’s some excellent racing on the Flat at Doncaster, where Yorkshire-based trainer David O’Meara should have a decent afternoon.

His YOUNG FIRE (1.20) has a good record on soft ground and he should get the solid early pace he likes.

There have been excuses for his below-par efforts in recent starts and he would have to have a fine chance on his Haydock third behind Wanees last month.

He’s also well weighted on his close second in a big-field handicap over this course and distance last autumn. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Several bookies are paying out on five places.

NOMADIC EMPIRE (4.10) – also trained by O’Meara – looks to have an excellent chance later on the card.

He again showed his liking for Doncaster when fourth in the Portland Handicap at last month’s St Leger meeting.

An Tailliur can strike at Cheltenham (PA)

The draw hasn’t done him any favours on his two subsequent runs and it is entirely possible that he has slipped in the weights despite not running out of form.

The visor he’s been wearing has been replaced with cheekpieces and he is a horse who responds to having his headgear changed around. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places with Sky Bet stretching to five.

WYOMING (3.30) went for home too soon when mowed down by useful Crystallium in the closing stages of a decent race at Newbury last month.

She returns to that track for the Listed Galloping To Give Stakes and she must have a decent chance of lasting home this time.

The form of her debut win worked out well and her yard is in great form. Have 1pt to win at 13-2.
