'Valorant' Miks Guide: Abilities, Healing, Smokes, Ultimate, and Best Team Compositions

Riot Games has introduced a new approach to the Controller role with Miks, "Valorant's" 30th Agent. Released with Season 2026 Act 2, the Croatian Agent brings an unusual combination of smoke utility, healing, combat buffs, enemy disruption, and crowd control.

What makes Miks particularly notable is his ability to heal teammates while playing the Controller role. Before his arrival, healing was primarily associated with Agents from other classes, making his kit an interesting option for teams that want additional support without giving up a dedicated Controller.

Miks is designed around music and sound waves, with abilities that encourage coordinated attacks and teamwork. Rather than focusing entirely on individual highlights, his kit rewards players who understand timing, positioning, and how to create opportunities for teammates.

Who Is Miks in 'Valorant'

Miks is a Croatian Controller Agent and the 30th playable Agent introduced to "Valorant." His character design and abilities follow a music-inspired theme centered on sound waves.

Riot Games Game Designer Kevin Meier described Miks as an Agent designed for players who enjoy supporting their teammates and creating opportunities for others.

That philosophy is reflected throughout his kit. While Miks has access to traditional Controller utility through his smoke ability, his remaining abilities allow him to heal allies, provide combat buffs, disrupt opponents, and control enemy movement.

This gives him a role that sits between traditional Controller and support utility.

One of Miks' most important distinctions is M-pulse, which can either heal allies or apply a concussive effect to players caught within its range. This makes Miks one of the few "Valorant" Agents capable of providing direct healing to teammates.

What Are Miks' Abilities in 'Valorant?'

Miks has four abilities that cover several areas of team play, including combat buffs, healing, smokes, disruption, and crowd control.

His complete kit consists of Harmonize (Q), M-pulse (C), Waveform (E), and Bassquake (X).

Harmonize (Q): Combat Stim for Miks and an Ally

Harmonize is Miks' combat buff ability and is designed to reward coordinated aggression.

The ability can target an ally and provide a Combat Stim to both Miks and the selected teammate. The effect refreshes whenever either player secures a kill, allowing the buff to remain active during a successful sequence of eliminations.

Miks can also use the alternate fire option to apply the Combat Stim to himself.

How to Use Harmonize

Harmonize is particularly effective when paired with an aggressive entry player or teammate who regularly takes the first duel.

A coordinated duo can use the ability before entering a site, allowing both players to benefit from the Combat Stim when the engagement begins. If they continue securing eliminations, the effect can remain active through multiple fights.

The ability is therefore most valuable when Miks has a reliable teammate who can consistently convert opening opportunities into kills.

Best Use Cases for Harmonize

  • Site executes
  • Coordinated retakes
  • Aggressive entry plays
  • Two-player pushes
  • Post-plant engagements

The kill-refresh mechanic makes Harmonize especially useful during rounds where a team maintains momentum.

M-pulse (C): Healing and Concussive Sonic Waves

M-pulse is arguably the ability that gives Miks his most distinctive identity.

The device can be thrown into an area and sends out sonic waves. Depending on the selected mode, those waves can either heal teammates or concuss players within the effect.

This dual-purpose utility allows Miks to adapt his ability based on the situation.

The healing mode provides additional sustain during fights, while the concussive mode can disrupt enemies before an execute or retake.

How to Use M-pulse for Healing

Miks can use the healing function to provide support during extended engagements. This can be particularly useful after teammates take damage while fighting for map control or defending a site.

Because the ability is deployed rather than requiring a traditional channeling process, it can potentially be incorporated into the flow of a coordinated round without forcing Miks to remain completely focused on the healing process.

How to Use M-pulse for Enemy Disruption

The concussive mode gives Miks an additional method of weakening opponents before a push.

It can be useful around:

  • Tight chokepoints
  • Site entrances
  • Common defensive positions
  • Retake setups
  • Post-plant areas

The ability can also help create openings when the team does not have a dedicated Initiator available.

M-pulse's flexibility is one of the main reasons Miks can fit into compositions that need both support and disruption.

Waveform (E): Map-Targeted Smokes

Waveform is Miks' primary smoke ability and provides the traditional Controller function of blocking enemy vision.

The ability uses a map-targeting system that will feel familiar to players who have used Controllers such as Brimstone. Miks selects locations on the map and deploys smokes to cut off important sightlines.

The main advantage is the ability to deploy the smokes quickly once the locations have been selected.

This can be valuable during fast site executes where timing is critical. Well-placed smokes can prevent defenders from seeing an incoming push, isolate opponents, and make it harder for enemies to support one another.

Why Waveform is Important

Miks' smoke utility ensures that he does not sacrifice the Controller role despite having support-oriented abilities.

A Miks player can still perform several fundamental Controller responsibilities:

  • Blocking defensive sightlines
  • Creating safer entry routes
  • Separating enemies during site takes
  • Supporting spike plants
  • Helping teammates reposition

This combination of smoke utility and support tools is what separates Miks from more traditional Controllers.

Waveform Controls on Console

Players using Miks on console should pay close attention to the control configuration. The Fire and Alt-Fire inputs for Waveform may be reversed compared with PC controls, so checking the bindings before entering a ranked match can prevent accidental smoke placements.

Bassquake (X): Miks' Crowd-Control Ultimate

Bassquake is Miks' ultimate ability and focuses on disrupting multiple enemies at once.

When activated, Bassquake unleashes Sonic Radiance forward. Players caught by the effect can be knocked back, Deafened, and Slowed.

The combination of these effects makes the ultimate particularly useful for breaking defensive positions and disrupting enemies during critical moments.

How to Use Bassquake

The ultimate can be effective when defenders are holding a narrow area or when a team needs to force opponents away from important positions.

Its knockback effect is particularly useful in confined spaces because it can physically displace enemies from their current locations. The Slow and Deafen effects then make it more difficult for affected players to respond effectively.

Potential uses include:

  • Breaking defensive setups
  • Initiating site executes
  • Disrupting retakes
  • Clearing tight corridors
  • Forcing defenders away from strong positions
  • Supporting post-plant situations

Because Bassquake requires Miks to position himself before releasing it, timing and placement are important.

How Does Miks Compare With Other 'Valorant' Controllers?

Miks occupies an unusual position within the Controller class.

His Waveform ability provides the traditional smoke utility expected from a Controller, while the rest of his kit adds tools that are more commonly associated with other roles.

His M-pulse ability gives him healing capability, while the concussive mode adds another layer of enemy disruption. Meanwhile, Harmonize rewards coordinated eliminations, and Bassquake provides powerful crowd control.

This makes Miks less focused on pure area denial than some traditional Controllers.

Instead, his kit encourages a team-oriented approach where the Agent can simultaneously contribute to:

  • Vision control
  • Healing
  • Combat buffs
  • Enemy disruption
  • Crowd control

That versatility may make him especially appealing to organized teams that can coordinate around his abilities.

When Should Players Pick Miks Over Other Controllers?

Miks is likely to be most useful when a team wants the traditional utility of a Controller while also gaining additional support capabilities.

He may be a strong choice when:

  • The team lacks a dedicated healing Agent.
  • The composition includes an aggressive entry player.
  • Fast site executes are a priority.
  • The team benefits from additional enemy disruption.
  • Players can coordinate around Harmonize.
  • The map contains narrow areas where Bassquake can be effective.

Teams that already have strong support utility may instead prefer a Controller with more specialized smoke capabilities, depending on the map and strategy.

Miks' main strength is not necessarily that he replaces every other Controller, but that he provides a different balance between smokes, healing, buffs, and disruption.

What Is Miks' Agent Gear?

Miks' Agent Gear track includes 10 tiers of cosmetic and in-game rewards.

The rewards include:

  • Tier 1: Spray – Put Your Hands Up
  • Tier 2: Player Card – VALORANT Miks
  • Tier 3: Title – Wub Wub
  • Tier 4: Spray – Feel the Beat
  • Tier 5: 2,000 Kingdom Credits
  • Tier 6: Gun Buddy – All Access
  • Tier 7: Spray – Miks Spray
  • Tier 8: Title – Bass Face
  • Tier 9: Player Card – Sound is Resistance
  • Tier 10: Classic – Headbanger

The final tier features Headbanger, a themed Classic sidearm cosmetic, making it one of the most notable rewards for players who want to complete Miks' Agent Gear progression.

Tips for Getting the Most From Miks

Players looking to maximize Miks' potential should focus on timing and coordination rather than treating him like a traditional passive Controller.

Pair Harmonize With an Aggressive Teammate

The ability becomes more valuable when used with a player who regularly takes fights and secures eliminations.

Use M-pulse Based on the Situation

The ability's two modes give Miks flexibility. Healing can sustain teammates after engagements, while the concussive option can help prepare an enemy position for a push.

Plan Waveform Before the Execute

Miks' smokes should be placed with the team's overall entry plan in mind. Blocking the wrong sightline can leave teammates exposed to defenders elsewhere on the site.

Save Bassquake for High-Value Moments

Because the ultimate combines knockback, Deafen, and Slow, it can be particularly effective when multiple enemies are grouped together or defending a critical position.

Communicate With the Team

Miks' kit becomes significantly stronger when teammates understand when the Combat Stim, healing, and crowd-control abilities are being used.

Miks Brings New Kind of Support to the Controller Role

Miks introduces a distinctive approach to the "Valorant" Controller role by combining traditional smoke utility with healing, combat buffs, enemy disruption, and crowd control.

His ability to heal teammates through M-pulse gives the class a capability it previously lacked, while Harmonize encourages coordinated aggression and Bassquake provides another way to break defensive setups.
