A wildlife refuge has come up with a brutal Valentine’s Day 'gift': getting people to name a salmon after their ex and watch as it gets devoured by a bear.

Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center, in Oregon, is offering people the privilege in exchange for a £16 donation.

The 1,000lb brown bears, named Kodi and Yak, will be the beneficiaries of the stunt.

The centre said on its Facebook page: “Did you fall hook, line, and sinker for someone who broke your heart? Kodi and Yak would love to help you get your revenge!”

The centre will also provide a certificate and photos of the bears tearing apart the fish.

Aside from Valentine's Day stunts, the centre provides care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.
