Valencia confirm Rodrigo transfer agreement as Leeds United close in on major summer signing

Valencia have confirmed they have agreed a deal in principle to sell striker Rodrigo to Leeds United.

Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani and director of football Victor Orta are thought to have jetted out to Spain to hold face-to-face talks to sign the forward in recent days.

And Valencia have now confirmed that Leeds have reached an agreement for the 29-year-old Spanish international, with the deal thought to be worth in the region of €30million (£27m) plus add-ons.

In a statement on their website, the La Liga side wrote: "Valencia CF have reached a preliminary agreement with Leeds United FC this Tuesday for the transfer of footballer Rodrigo Moreno, at the expense of completing all the documentation and other formalities and passing the mandatory medical examination.

"Valencia CF want to thank him for his commitment and effort over the last six seasons - in which he has played a total of 220 games, scored 59 goals, and helped to win a Cup title.

"Valencia CF wish him all the best in this new stage of his sports career."

Rodrigo, who has previously experienced English football with a loan spell at Bolton 2010, netted eight goals last season as Valencia finished ninth in La Liga.
