Vale Juniors boss Brian Brown has given his backing to plans to start the new West of Scotland League season in July.
The inaugural season of the all-new league was declared null and void last month, with bosses now eyeing plans for the new season to start on July 17 - assuming restrictions allow.
And Brown believes it’s important that competitive action can resume as soon as possible.
He told the Lennox: “I think it’s important that we get back as quickly as we can after being given the green light.
“As soon as restrictions are lifted a wee bit then I’ll be able to get my players who are a bit further afield into training. And as soon as that happens we’ll be getting them up and running.
“The quicker we get going the better.
“As soon as we start back the hard work will resume and the guys will hopefully all be switched on to the difference in level and standard of player we’re coming up against.
“They’re more than capable of playing at that level. There’s a good squad down there and they are all young guys.
“Hopefully they’ll come back with the bit between their teeth.”
The Vale gaffer also hopes that restrictions will be eased enough to allow the Millburn faithful the opportunity to get back on the terraces after 17 months locked out of the action.
He continued: “With it being a new league starting properly we need to make next year as big a success as we can.
“I would like to think that we’ll be able to have supporters back. It looks as if we’re going into a brighter place, but again it can change quickly so we’ve got our fingers crossed.
“The support that we get at Millburn isn’t a big number, but the guys who come down make it a better atmosphere with the banter from the crowd. It’s brilliant, I think both sets of players enjoy it.
“I think not having those guys in didn’t push us on at all.
“It was a bit strange not having them there.”
