Vakoun Bayo set for Celtic Eddie Howe redemption chance as Toulouse playoff tees up Parkhead return

Celtic misfit Vakoun Bayo looks set to return to Parkhead this summer after Toulouse failed to reach Ligue 1.

The striker made just nine league appearances in two seasons, failing to score a Premiership goal, before being loaned out to France last summer.

Despite his stuggles in Scotland, the Ivorian has been a hit in the French second tier as he hit 12 goals in 34 games this term, despite starting in only just over half those games..

Bayo has also provided three assists for his team-mates, establishing himself as a key man in the promotion push which took them to the Ligue 2 promotion playoff final.

The striker couldn't prevent his side slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat in the first leg and faces an uphill battle in the away leg.

With an option to buy in his loan deal, the added income from top flight promotion could have seen the Les Violets make the move permanent.

They are unlikely to pay out a multi-million fee if they don't reach the top flight, and Celtic will be keen to recoup most of the reported £2million they paid Dunajska Streda for the player back in 2019.

However, he will have a chance to impress Eddie Howe when he returns to Glasgow's east end and show he can be a key part of the Celtic Park summer overhaul.
