Vakoun Bayo could get Celtic chance under Ange Postecoglou as Toulouse offer purchase option insight

Celtic misfit Vakoun Bayo looks set to return to Parkhead with Toulouse unlikely to exercise their purchase option on the striker.

The Ivorian striker has made just nine league appearances in two seasons, failing to score a Premiership goal, before being loaned out to France last summer.

He has impressed in Ligue 2 this term hitting 13 goals in 35 games this term despite struggling to hold down a regular spot.

However, having failed to reach the top flight with playoff defeat to Nantes, Les Violets have axed boss Patrice Garande.

They have also announced that Brecht Dejaegere has made his loan permanent, with no mention of further business, signalling a return to Glasgow's east end for Bayo.

With pre-season just around the corner, the 24-year-old is expected to report for duty at Lennoxtown and could be handed a shot at redemption by new boss Ange Postecoglou.

It could be a welcome boost for the Australian with his Parkhead squad short on attacking options going into the Champions League qualifiers.

Odsonne Edouard looks likely to leave this summer and Leigh Griffiths is in limbo waiting to find out if his option for a one-year contract extension will be picked up by the club.

That could see flop Albian Ajeti left as the only recognised first-team striking options heading into the second round qualifier first leg on July 20/21.
