Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series trailer sees fans return to Mustafar

We now have our first look at the brand new virtual reality experience Vader Immortal.

The newly released trailer for Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series shows off footage from the first episode of the all-new virtual reality experience from ILMxLAB and was first shown as a part of Star Wars Celebration 2019 in Chicago, Illinois on April 12, 2019.

This comes hot off the heels of the brand new trailer for Episode IX of the film series, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Vader Immortal will be available on both Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest platforms, so expect all of the higher-resolution experiences.

The footage gives fans an idea of the role they will be stepping into as part of the game, which places players as someone with a personal relationship to Vader.

Set before the events of original movie A New Hope, the series will explore more of Darth Vader's castle, as seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Users will be a captain of the smuggling ship Windfall and will be joined by first mate and sidekick droid Zoe-3, who will be voiced by Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph.

Rudolph's involvement was revealed at Star Wars Celebration.

Darth Vader plays a prominent and terrifying role in the footage and whole series, with the iconic movie villain being voiced by Star Wars: Resistance voice actor Scott Lawrence.

We will also be treated to a host of new characters, including natives of the lava plannet Mustafar, where Anakin Skywalker was transformed into Darth Vader and where he then chose to make a home.

In addition to these native figures, including a high priestess, we will also meet a new Imperial officer, Commander Karius, voiced by Steve Bloom.

The panel at the event discussed the spacialised audio that went into play for the experience, with each episode lasting around 45 minutes to an hour.

The narrative connects to previous VR experience Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and builds from plot points therein.

Episode 1 follows the playable character building a lightsaber before moving on to force abilities in Episode 2.

We can't wait to try it!

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR series currently has no release date.
