Vaccine sceptic Joe Rogan tests positive for Covid - and treats it with dewormer

The well-known podcaster Joe Rogan has tested positive for Covid.

Joe Rogan, the host of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast confirmed he had tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday after he returned home from Florida, the New York Times reports.

On the podcast last year, Mr Rogan suggested that young, healthy people did not need to get coronavirus vaccinations. He was rebuked by federal officials for the comments.

He said he started feeling "sick" on Saturday night after he got home from a performance in Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale.

Mr Rogan posted a video to Instagram where he said: "Throughout the night I got fevers, and I knew what was going on."

He said he had isolated himself from his family and even stayed in a different part of his house. He took a coronavirus test the next morning, which came back positive.

Mr Rogan said he has been treated with medications including ivermectin, a deworming vetinary drug that the Food and Drug Administration has warned Covid-19 patients against taken as it has shown that it is ineffective during criminal trials. He also spoke about prednisone - a steroid - and a "vitamin drip."

He said he was feeling "pretty good" by Wednesday.

“A wonderful heartfelt thank you to modern medicine for pulling me out of this so quickly and easily,” he said.

Mr Rogan said he has been forced to postpone his show on Friday in Nashville to October.

He has already offered refunds to fans who bought tickets for his show in Madison Square Garden after New York City's mayor, Bill de Blasio, said all attendees at major events show proof of vaccination.

Mr Rogan gave the refunds as he opposes the restrictions.

He said in August: "If someone has an ideological or physiological reason for not getting vaccinated, I don't want to force them to get vaccinated to see the show.

"And now they saw everybody has to be vaccinated, and I want everybody to know that you can get your money back."
