Vaccine scam warning in Trafford after elderly residents targeted

A warning has been issued after elderly residents were targeted in a vaccine-related scam.

Trafford council said staff had received 'several reports' of patients receiving phone calls stating they will be having their Covid vaccination at home and that they must pay on the phone.

A tweet by the council on Tuesday afternoon stated that nobody will be asked to have a vaccine at home.

When callers ring up about the vaccine, they will identify themselves and say they are calling on behalf of a GP.

Callers will never ask for money.

The council tweet stated: "Sadly, we have been alerted to a possible Covid scam aimed at older residents.

"There have been several reports of patients receiving phone calls stating they'll be having their Covid vaccination at home and that they must pay on the phone."
