Vaccination for pregnant women

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state health department has decided to chart out an action plan to vaccinate all the pregnant women in the state. As part of this, it has been decided that Asha workers will visit the houses of all pregnant women in their respective areas and register them for getting the vaccination.

For those not having own sources to register on the website, the Asha workers will help them in registeration. All Asha workers will ensure that the women registered by them receive the vaccine.

In each district, separate vaccination camps will be organized for women. For this, hospitals will keep a separate day exclusively for pregnant women. Such hospitals should make arrangements such that the pregnant women are not coming into contact with anyone else in the hospital. The health department has made it clear that vaccination is safe for pregnant women, and hence there is no specific period for them to get vaccinated. Women at any pregnancy stage can take the vaccination.
