Vaccination drive expected to resume in Ernakulam tomorrow

KOCHI: No vaccination will be held in government vaccination camps in the district on Monday. Vaccination would resume on Tuesday if the district gets its consignment from the central government. Vaccination will continue in private hospitals.

Ernakulam on Sunday reported 2,915 Covid positive cases. Test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 13.92% on Sunday. Three guest workers, 10 INHS staff and four healthcare workers are also among the new positive cases. Highest cases of the day were reported from Puthenvelikkara with 99 followed by Thrikkakara (79) and Tripunithura (78). More than 98 cases were reported from West Kochi.

Less than five cases were reported from 12 places in the district. As many as 2,422 persons recovered from the infection on Sunday when 176 were discharged. The number of patients undergoing treatment at hospitals and at houses touched 34,208 on Sunday. Of the total, 81 are in Government Medical College Hospital, Ernakulam, 1,364 in private hospitals and the rest in Covid first and secondline treatment centres, houses and other government hospitals.

Under ‘Guest Vax’ drive, vaccination for 46.72% of guest workers have been completed in Ernakulam. As many as 36,500 workers were vaccinated at 111 camps till Sunday. The labour department had identified 77,991 guest workers, during a survey conducted in the initial stage of the second lockdown. Priority is given to the scattered workers at the camps. On Sunday, 1,100 guest workers were vaccinated in Perumbavoor and Muvattupuzha.
