A student at the University of the West of England (UWE) has died suddenly.
The Bristol university has confirmed with "profound sorrow" the death of one of its law students.
James Faragher, who was studying a LLB (Hons) Law degree at UWE, died on May 15, 2019.
A UWE spokesperson told Bristol Live the news has been "devastating" for the community. They encouraged anyone affected by Mr Faragher's death to seek support from the university.
Some students who had been studying on the same module as Mr Faragher were notified of his death via an email two days later, on May 17.
His death has been referred to the coroner, although a date has yet to be set for an inquest into his death to be opened.
The UWE spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends, as well as their fellow students, at this very difficult time.
"Our first priority is to ensure we’re providing them with all the help and support they need.
"We encourage any of our students or staff who have been affected by this news to contact UWE Support Services or call the Samaritans for support as soon as possible, as well as seeking support from their own friends, family or GP."
