'Utterly nuts' - Gary Lineker issues Liverpool verdict following Tottenham win

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has issued his verdict on Liverpool's unstoppable charge for Premier League glory after yet another victory for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The Reds extended their unbeaten streak to 21 matches this season and 38 in the Premier League overall with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham, courtesy of Roberto Firmino's first-half effort.

It also marked a sixth-consecutive clean sheet for Liverpool, who sit 16 points ahead of Leicester City following their defeat to Southampton and 17 ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who tackle Aston Villa on Sunday.

The points tally of 61 points from 21 matches is the best-ever start to a top-flight league campaign in the history of English football, with the Reds on course to end a 30-year wait for a league title.

As the celebrations took place after the win, Lineker took to social media to issue his verdict on the Reds and their meteoric rise to history in the Premier League.

"21 Premier League games played for @LFC with 20 wins and a draw. That's utterly nuts," he posted on Twitter.

Liverpool are now just 11-games short of matching the record that Arsenal's 'invincibles' side set in 2004, where the Gunners went a total of 49 matches without defeat in the Premier League - lifting the title in 2003/04 without losing a match.
